AMCA Supports World Series Sprintcars BIS 11th January

I am very happy to say that I have just received confirmation from John
Kelly that AMCA Nationals will be supporting World Series Sprintcars on 11th
January.

I must congratulate all the AMCA drivers in QLD and NSW who have supported
our racing this season so far. It is a direct result of our increased car
numbers and clean racing that BIS have put us on as support. Well done
everyone.

It is now very important that we have as many cars racing on the night as
possible so we can showcase our division in front of a big crowd. It has
been hard to get back as a support for this night, so lets make it a great
night.

All nominations to myself or Sam on 0733799627 no later than 3rd Jan 8pm.

Redline Racecars/SS Inductions AMCA Action Series Rd 2 BIS 5/11/05

Round 2 of the Redline Racecars/SS Inductions AMCA Action Series was run at Brisbane International Speedway on Saturday 5th November. 14 cars turned up for a great nights racing.

In a welcome return to the track, Q21 Russell Knight took out his first heat win for the season in heat 1. Russell Bonsey in the Q24 car was too quick for his rivals in heat 2, recording a comfortable win.

Steve Potts flew out of the blocks to take the lead in heat 3 only to be round up by Eric Knight with 3 laps to go to take the win. Rob Kelly was the unlucky driver in this heat breaking a top A-arm, after looking strong throughout.

Heat 4 saw the most action for the night with a spectacular crash involving the Q28 car of Andrew Robinson and the Q9 car of Brett Tobin, making contact in turn 4 with Brett’s car riding over the top of Andrew and climbing the concrete wall. Unfortunately for Brett this ended his night, with Andrew able to make the feature after some extensive repairs in the pits. On the restart Russell Bonsey managed to squeeze past Russell Knight to take the win with Q46 Dean Ballard in 3rd.

In the words of the veteran BIS commentator the Performance Wholesale feature race was an “absolute blinder”, with hard, fast, clean racing with no stoppages. Q21 Russell Knight led from start to finish to take the chequer from Q24 Russell Bonsey and Q66 Eric Knight. Dean Ballard and Rob Kelly rounded out the top five. With thanks to  Performance Wholesale the $100 voucher was won by Rob Kelly.

Our next race meeting for AMCA Nationals in Sth East Qld is at BIS on 17 December. Hope to see you there.

Press Release Yandina  08/10/05

A good crowd was in attendance as 15 Cars fronted up to Yandina Speedway on Saturday October 8th for the first round of Sth East Qld AMCA racing for the 2005/06 season.

With 5 cars making the trek down from as far as Blackwater and 2 from NSW, we were in for a great nights racing.

As is probably going to be the case for most speedways this season, due to water shortages the track was dry and slick throughout the night.

Winners through the heats were Q66 Eric Knight, N97 Neil Wallace, Q24 Russell Bonsey and  N86 Nick Stubbs.

Q24 Russell Bonsey and Q32 Steve Potts shared the front row for the top 6 dash, with N97 Neil Wallace taking the win from Bonsey and Potts with Q23 Rob Kelly and Q11 Dave McKie rounding out the field. Unfortunately N86 Nick Stubbs couldn’t get his car out on the track in time and missed the dash.

Wallace and Bonsey shared the front row for the 20 lap feature Race, but with a pile up on turn 3 a full restart was in order with Q11 Dave McKie sent ROF.

Q66 Eric Knight flew past the field on the restart moving up from 1th to 6th, but soon slowed down due to another stoppage, which saw Q20 Mal Watkins hit the wall very hard and was not able to take any further part in the race.

In a race marred by stoppages partly due to track conditions, Wallace, Bonsey, Knight and Potts were all jostling for front positions, with both Bonsey and Knight spinning out. This left Q32 Steve Potts to push into 2nd.

With 3 laps remaining Potts blew a tyre, ending any podium chances, which left the very consistant Q63 car of James Murphy to move into 2nd position.

N97 Neil Wallace led the race from start to finish to cap off a greats nights racing, with Murphy in 2nd and in an outstanding performance from rookie driver Q22 Aaron Van Zealand making his way on to the podium in his very first AMCA event.

Q11 Dave McKie came home in 4th position with Russell Bonsey rounding out the top five.

All drivers were to be commended for their driving in trying conditions throughout the night.

Our next race meeting in SE QLD is our opening night at Brisbane International Speedway on 5th November

INTRODUCTIONS

Hello and welcome to the start of another season coming up for AMCA racing here in QLD.

There have been a few changes happening behind the scenes since last season wound up, and I am happy to announce that AMCA QLD has formed a Management Committee to take us forward. The committee is:

Operations Manager – Steve Potts                   Administration – Samantha Craig

Technical Advisor – Russell Bonsey               Events/Promotions – Rob Leeson

Season 2005/06 is looking very exciting, with the main focus of the committee to rebuild AMCA racing to the strong division here in QLD that it deserves to be; and with the support of you, the drivers and families I have no doubt this will be achieved.

As you may already be aware the Australian AMCA Title is to be held in Toowoomba on 10 & 11 March, with the QLD Title in Bundaberg the following weekend, ensuring a big field of cars for both events. This will no doubt be the highlight of our season.

AMCA SPONSORSHIP

Rob Leeson has put in a tremendous amount of work so far regarding our season sponsors, and it is with great pleasure that we announce we have secured 2 major sponsors so far for the upcoming season.

AMCA QLD MAJOR SPONSOR

REDLINE RACECARS & ROLLCAGES – On behalf of AMCA QLD I would like to thank Bob and Robyn Dennis from Redline Racecars who have donated a complete AMCA U-WELD Chassis Kit, including full Bumper Kit and Engine Mount Kit valued at just under $2,000.00. Redline have been a fantastic supporter for many years of AMCA racing and we are all delighted for their continued support.

EVERY DRIVER who races in QLD will have the chance to win this fantastic prize, just by turning up to race! Every time you race an event in QLD (excluding Titles) your name will go into “The Helmet” for the end of season draw. We will finalise the criteria for recording each drivers racing & announce it to you over the coming weeks, so everyone can have an opportunity to get their backside into a brand new AMCA!

AMCA STH EAST QLD ACTION SERIES SPONSOR

SS INDUCTIONS – On behalf of AMCA QLD I would like to thank SS Inductions who have confirmed their wish to sponsor AMCA this season in the form of offering 2 x Cold Air Induction Kits (1 x Ford, 1 x Holden). We would anticipate that these prizes would be for 1st place in the Action Series, but we will finalise the details in the coming weeks and keep you posted.

Rob is continuing to be on the lookout for any potential support sponsors, so if you know of anyone who may be interested in supporting our class for this season please contact Rob Leeson at his number listed above.

2005/2006 SEASON CALENDAR

Once again, I would like to thank Rob for organizing this season’s calendar, it has been a big task, but Rob has come up with what I consider to be a great calendar for going forward.

Rob’s idea was to organize a statewide calendar that did not clash dates with any tracks, as well as incorporating Northern NSW dates to enable both regions to support each other and increase car numbers, hence the incorporation of 1 x Lismore and 1 x Grafton meeting in our QLD Pointscore for this season.  While date clashes have been unavoidable in some cases, I think we have a calendar that meets our criteria in probably 90% of the time. For example, if you want to travel to Rocky to race you can do so without sacrificing a local meeting and vise versa. A copy of the calendar is attached.

NOMINATIONS

We are asking all drivers this season to take responsibility for their nominations for race meetings, as we will no longer be ringing around chasing drivers for their nominations!

All nominations are to be forwarded to Sam or myself on 07 33799627 by no later than 8PM on the Sunday before the meeting.

If you can all do this one thing for us it will make our life much easier!

If you do not nominate, we guarantee you will start your heats from ROF, no exceptions!

Sam and I are also looking to dust off the BBQ and have a sausage sizzle at the end of meetings at BIS, with the aim of directing the proceeds of this to help our travelers with some tow money. So if you could support the BBQ & have a chat after racing, it all goes to helping our class prosper.

On behalf of the committee, I wish everyone the best for the season and can’t wait to see you at the track.

Please feel free to contacts us on the above numbers if you need any help with anything.

Regards
