The following 2 weeks are quite busy with speedway on the North Coast. Next weekend, the 25th, is a double header at Bartercard Lismore Speedway. The Modified Productions contest the Want's Transport NSW Title, plus we have the V8 Dirt Modifieds. Not only is there 2 majors, but we have no less than 5 support classes, 7 classes in all.
Th Production Car Title Nomination List is a real who's who of sedan racing. Hot favourite for outright victory is Lismore's Jason Jolley in his VS Commodore. Jason is a former NSW Title holder as well as a former Australian Champion which he won at Lismore in 2000. Jason has just completed a rebuild of his potent V6 Fuel Injected engine and is ready to go. " Mate, we're pumped. I'm glad its at Lismore, we will be a real chance, don't worry." Jason said.
Current Australian Champion Gary Brown, also in a VS Commodore, loves the Lismore track and is also confident of a good showing. Another former Australian and NSW Champion is Lismore's Greg Worling. Yet another driver in a VS Commodore, and has enough experience around Lismore, especially in big races, to be dissapointed with anything but a win. Other drivers in with a genuine chance are Wayne Carter, Ron Watts who is the current NSW Champion, Steve Downs in his new AU Falcon, Wayne Sullivan in the ex Bob Worling Commodore, and Queenslands Micheal Hally, Steve Jordan and Peter Lack.
The V8 Dirt Modifieds as always have a very strong field with Stuart Herne, Mark Robinson, Wayne Reynolds, Shawn Mortimer, Mick Santin, the list goes on and on.
As you read in the Daily Examiner, Victoria's Tim Morse won the Australian Title at Mt Gambier last weekend. Stuart Herne praised the winner, although was dissapointed with his own result coming in 5th after being sent to the rear in an ongoing battle with the officials. " It was the same officials that I've had trouble with in Lismore. I just can't seem to get away from them" he laughed. " I just take it on the chin. But a lot of other officials and drivers have commented to me that the decision to send me to the rear maybe wasn't correct."
Lismore's Mark Robinson was happy with his result, coming in 3rd, in testing track conditions. QLD Champion Shawn Mortimer came 4th.
To recap the action next Saturday night the 25th. Want's Transport Modified Production NSW Title, V8 Dirt Modifieds, Club Sedans, Stockers, Streeters, 4 Cylinders and Juniors. Racing will start at 6pm.
