LATEST NEWS FOR GRAFTON / LISMORE SPEEDWAYS
Lismore's Aaron Suffolk registered his first ever feature win in last weekends Motortorque Automotive Night of Power. Driving the ex Stuart Herne Suffolk's Engines Chev powered Modified, Aaron lead from the start for a popular victory.
After such a hot day with 41 degrees
during the day at the track, the Modifieds struggled with Aussie
Champion Stuart Herne and Queensland Champion Shaun Mortimer both
withdrawing with overheating troubles. Wayne Reynolds problems
continued with another front suspension failure that see's the Mullum
express yet to finish a feature this season. Quite a contrast to last
season when the popular driver of the Brunswick Valley Coaches
Modified won 3 of the first 4 races.
The V8's move to Brisbane tonight where
Mortimer will be looking to put some success in his season.
Another impressive win at Grafton last
Saturday night was Leanne Rose in the Streeter division. The cars in
this class are required to remain standard both in the engine and the
suspension which in turn, places more emphasis on driving ability.
John Wiblen came in second, also driving a Falcon, and to his credit,
was in a position a number of times to unload Leanne, but instead
drove a clean race choosing to pass using outright speed. John was
unable to get the job done and praised Leanne's driving " She has
certainly improved out of site over the past few meetings. Much
straighter on the track, and seems to have a lot more control."
Next weekend the Super Sedans hit Bartercard
Lismore in the Northern Rivers Hotel Shootout. The Lismore "Queen
of Speed" Tania Smith has had some good results lately and after a
test session at Lismore lately, will be confident. Opposition
will come thick and fast however with drivers the calibre of John
Leslight, Jamie McHugh, Michael Gee, nicknamed "Spiderman"
after his car was left hanging off the fence after a spectacular
crash. Randall, Brims and Pagel make up some of the 16 nominated 650
hp Super Sedans set to race next Saturday the 23rd. Gates will
open at 3.30 with the racing at 6.30.
