Damion “The Demon” Gardner is one of the most explosive Sprintcar drivers in the world today, he’s ranked in the top three in the grueling SCRA ranks and he’s heading Down Under for at least seven, possibly ten, World Series Sprintcars dates.

The exciting news was released today by
Gardner’s Aussie car owner Paul Jordan.

Jordan, who is the owner of REVS 2000 / Jordan Motorsport operation, has been watching Gardner kick up some serious dust in the SCRA non-wing Sprintcar division as well as enjoying significant success in the mid-western Speedcar (midget) brigade for some time now.

He struck up an association with the 24 year old Californian through So-Cal Engineering boss man Glen Howard.

“Glen introduced me to Damion and we went to several events that he won including shows at
Ventura and Perris,” says Jordan, “you could see the guy had talent, it’s no easy feat to run with those SCRA guys let alone beat them.”

Jordan is quick to point out also that Gardner is sponsored by Gaerte Engines – and that’s support that precious few are fast enough to enjoy.

Paul and his 37-year-old son Mark (who raced Speedcars for several years himself but now concentrates on putting cars together and maintaining them) will oversee the mechanical side of
Gardner’s Down Under debut.

Damion will more than likely bring one of his own wrenches – a guy named Jeff Sitch – but Mark will be responsible for bolting together our new Gambler chassis and maintaining it for the race program ahead,” says
Jordan.

Gardner is currently 3rd in the 2003 SCRA Championship and is cementing himself as one of the most explosive young racers in the most ‘walk-the-tight-rope’ class of Sprintcar Racing – non-wing!

Damion concentrates on his wingless racing predominantly but that’s not to say he doesn’t have significant experience with a wing on,” concedes
Jordan, “he ran with the Outlaws a couple of years ago so he has plenty of time under the shade of an aerofoil.”

Gardner will fly into Australia in late November where it is hoped he’ll be in time to catch the first WSS appearance at Speedway City on November 29.

“From there on we’ll stay with World Series Sprintcars up until the end of Speedweek and decide what we’ll do from there. I don’t think we’ll make it to
Brisbane for the early January shows but we plan to catch Wagga and Adelaide for the last two WSS rounds.”

Jordan says that Aussie fans will enjoy Gardner’s aggressive style, and he’s particular looking forward to the Proton Jumbuck Speedweek.

“He doesn’t race for percentages, he races to win. He’ll come from the back and pass a lot of cars and he’s never satisfied unless he passes the next car in front. The Speedweek Series is of great interest to our team as well, we like the money on offer and the intensity of the schedule. It’ll suit Damion’s style for sure.”

Damion Gardner is the latest American to drive for Paul Jordan over the last two decades in
Australia and the USA including names like Vogler, Gordon, Fox, Passerelli, Haudenschild and Sleepy Tripp.

Indeed the racing exploits of the Jordan family don’t end there with Paul’s younger son Troy taking delivery of an awesome new Ed Pink Ford powered Beast chassis Speedcar from the USA later this month – a leading edge machine that he’ll use with awesome effect in both NSW and Victoria in search of some major money events.

The car has a fine pedigree; it’s the ex JJ Yeley machine.

Gardner’s Gaerte Gambler will be backed by a major Australian based rental car company, Coates Hire Australia and more supporters to be announced soon.

“I have to say, Glen Howard from So Cal and George Sanders from Gambler have both been instrumental in making this happen,” concedes
Jordan.

The inclusion of Damion “The Demon”
Gardner into the World Series Sprintcars 2003/2004 competition for possibly up to nine rounds is an exciting announcement indeed for Promoters and fans alike of Australia’s most lucrative Speedway Series…
