V8 DIRT MODIFIED RESULTS BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY SATURDAY OCTOBER 26 David Rodgie put on a dominant display to take out the V8 Dirt Modified Feature at the Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) on Saturday night (Oct 26). Second home was David Conlin, with Rob Clifford coming home third. The Feature was reduced to 15 laps as a nearby electrical storm threatened to bring a premature halt to proceedings. The threat of rain didn’t eventuate however, and the feature was run without a single stoppage. Shane Malt made the most of his front row starting position by taking the early lead, closely followed by his brother Audie, with Conlin close behind in third. It wasn’t long before Rodgie made his intentions clear however, moving from fifth to second by lap two. With four laps complete, Rodgie made his move for the lead, relegating Malt to second, closely followed by Conlin & (Audie) Malt. By this time, both Ray Klarich & Rob Clifford had started making their way forward, now up to fifth & sixth respectively. Once in the lead, Rodgie was never challenged and set about establishing a sizable lead over the field. Disaster would soon strike second place running Shane Malt, with fuel pressure problems forcing him to the infield. With Rodgie out in the distance, a four-way battle emerged for second place between Conlin, Audie Malt, Klarich & Clifford. As the laps wore down, Clifford continued his march forward, passing both Klarich & Malt and moving into third position. Try as they may, the field simply weren’t able to match Rodgie’s performance, with the young driver going on to record a popular win. Conlin’s second place finish was his second runner-up finish in as many race meetings, while Clifford was a last start winner at the BIS. In earlier Heat race action, wins went to Klarich, Clifford and Scott Conlin. The next event on the V8 Dirt Modified calendar is the Neumann Petroleum Silver Sash at the Batercard Lismore Speedway next Saturday night (Nov 2). Ben Graham 26-10-02
