After qualifying on pole position for the 35-lap feature race, by virtue of finishing his three qualifying heat races with a win, a second and an eight, Bink battled with the likes of Glenn Mitchell, Ray Healey and defending champion Bryan Mackney for the lead, but managed to come out on top to take a much sought after victory. ::Read More...

| Action Aplenty in Australian RSA Street Stock Title: | |
|
Story
by Redline
Media The Inside Speedway Magazine supported 2007 Australian RSA Street Stock Title had a little bit of everything, but in the end on Saturday night (May 5) at Parramatta City Raceway it was Ford Falcon driver Tim Bink that came out on top by claiming his maiden Australian RSA Title victory. Throughout the 35-lap feature race, that decided the 2007 Australian RSA Title holder, there was plenty of controversy and moments of disappointment, many that left numerous drivers dejected. Defending champion Bryan Mackney (Holden Torana) was left a rather angry and dejected figure post race after he was sent rear of field due to an incident on the 20th lap whilst battling for the lead with Ray Healey (Ford Falcon). Both Mackney and Healey cars made contact with one another when the latter drove underneath Mackney in turn two for the lead, but it was then that the pair made contact which resulted in Mackney coming to a stop at the bottom of the track. Race officials deemed that Mackney was the cause for the contact after it was alleged that he had turned down on Healey. Soon after being sent to the rear of the field, a rather angry Mackney retired to the pit enclosure. ::Read More...

Reed Rejoices in PCR Street Stock Battle: |
|
|
Story
by Redline
Media Holden Commodore driver Brian Reed celebrated his maiden victory of the 2006/07 season when he claimed the feature race honours at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR) on Saturday night (February 17) during the latest round of the Sydney Street Stock club championship and it wasn’t without a pinch of controversy when Glenn Mitchell (Ford Falcon) was disqualified for a driving infringement after greeting the chequered flag in first place. During the middle stages of the 20-lap feature race Mitchell and Richard Elliot (Holden Commodore) were battling for fourth place and that was when Mitchell made contact with Elliot entering turn one and it resulted in Elliot spinning onto the infield and soon after retiring to the pit enclosure. Mitchell was able to continue on and managed to chase down leader Shane Carlson in the closing laps of the race and take victory, but his victory spoils were short-lived when race officials banished him to the rear of the field for his part in the Elliot spin. ::Read More...

Commodore drivers dominated proceedings in the latest round of the
Sydney Street Stock club championship on Saturday night (February 3)
at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR) with Robbie Swain leading home Brian
Reed and surprise packet Michael Butt at the completion of the flag to
flag feature race. Throughout the 15-lap feature race it was Butt that was by far the most impressive by leading the opening laps after starting from pole position and looked on track to take an upset victory. Fellow Holden Commodore drivers, rookie Troy Dean and Swain, chased down Butt, and by the eighth their battle had turned into a three wide tussle at one stage, in some door handle to door handle racing. ::Read More...

Street Stocks Return to PCR Minus Many of Their Stars: |

Story by Redline Media A number of the leading contenders will be away contesting the NSW State Title this Saturday night (February 3), and there will be a smaller field of drivers than usual contesting the latest Sydney Street Stock meeting at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR), and this present a good chance that there will be a new driver joining the winners circle. From the nominated field of drivers only Bryan Foyle (Ford Falcon) and Greg ‘Boom Boom’ Bayliss (Holden Commodore) have managed to capture feature race victories in season 2006/07 at PCR, and they are no doubt wanting to post another victory, especially whilst a number of the leading contenders are going to be absent. ::Read More...

Story by Redline Media Defending Sydney Street Stock club champion Tim Bink (Ford Falcon) recorded his maiden feature race victory during the latest round of the Sydney club championship at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR) last Saturday night (January 6) but it was newcomer, Troy Dean (Holden Commodore) that showed plenty of fight in his strongest drive to date. On a dreadfully slick track surface (post 40 degree plus temperatures), surviving the feature race over its 10-lap distance was a challenge in itself as traction was limited and demanded plenty of throttle control from the drivers. ::Read More...

Despite starting from position six in his # 6 EA Falcon, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Foyle in the 12-lap feature race, as he entered turn two in the closing stages, Foyle narrowly missed colliding with a spinning lapped car. O’Neill takes second Feature win for 05/06, but Bink takes points lead. |
|
|
Story by Melinda Reiher A
strong field of
19 cars lined up for the 8th round of the Sydney Street
Stockers Championship at Parramatta City Raceway. With 5 different
feature race winners from only 5 rounds run out of 8 due to curfews
and rainouts, it would be anyone’s guess as to who would take the
honours this round. The first of two heats saw Neil White (#35) off pole, and in only his second appearance, Ray Fowler (#21) starting along side him. When the green flag dropped White, Fowler and Shane Carlson (#25), went 3 wide into turns 1 and 2 with Carlson getting the jump going down the back straight. Richard Elliot (#7) who climbed his way from 7th to 3rd, half spun on lap 3 and sent him towards the back of the pack for the rest of the race. As Carlson was cruising to a heat win, current Track Champion Tim Bink (#1) managed his way from 9th to finish second while a threatening title contender Glen Mitchell (#41) clawed his way from 14th to finish 3rd. After starting rear of the field, O’Neill made 12 positions to finish 7th while Bourke made up 10 to finish 9th. ::Read More...

Story
by Melinda Reiher The
Sydney Street Stockers took to the track finally under clear skies for
the fourth round on the 12th of November. A good field of
25 cars lined up for the night with 3 drivers making their season
debut, lady racer Sue Healey in the #29 falcon that won round 3, Alan
Cox #14 Holden and Greg Bayliss #12 Holden, Brian Foyle showed off his
new #6 Falcon while Nathan Pantovich showed off a new paint job for
the #16 Holden. Once again with split heats for the night, Neil Sivell (#49) making his 2nd appearance for the season, lined up next to Alan Cox for the front row with Fender Bender veteran Graham Arnold (#37) and Shane Carlson (#25) behind them. Cox took the lead into the first corner from Sivell as John Smith (#91) charged through from 8th with Glen Mitchell (#41) making his way through from 13th to start their own battle for 4th and 5th spot. Cox ran wide on turns 3 and 4 which saw Carlson and Sivell sneak under him. The night ended for Arnold who brought out the yellows as he lost a wheel coming onto the front straight on lap 3. The restart saw Sue Healey (#29) and Nigel O’Neill (#9) catch up to the back of Mitchell and Smith. With Carlson setting the pace for the restart, that is where he stayed as he took the first heat with Sivell coming home 2nd followed by Cox, Smith and Mitchell. ::Read More...

an overcast but very muggy night at Parramatta City Raceway, Sydney
Street Stockers took on Round 3 of their Championship with 20 cars
ready to rumble and praying the rain will hold out for the night. With split heats on the agenda for the night, Heat 1 saw Leigh Bourke (#69) and Round 1 winner Nigel O’Neill (#9) start on the front row with Andrew Tyma (#20) and Warren Gillespie (#27) on the second row. Bourke got the jump on O’Neill going into the first corner and a hard charging Tim Bink (#1), who started back in 10th, quickly caught up to Bourke and O’Neill to take them on. Eventually O’Neill and Bink managed to pass Bourke, which left him to fight it out with Richard Elliot (#7), John Smith (#91) and Tyma for third spot. Smith and Elliot were constantly swapping positions to try to take on a fast Bourke. Unfortunately for Bourke, his heat race ended on the formation lap with a broken accelerator cable saw him roll back to the pits. Nigel O’Neill (#9) and Bink battled it out for the lead throughout the whole heat race, while a 3-way battle between Shane Carlson (#25), Glen Mitchell (#41) and Bryan Foyle (#6) was brewing behind O’Neill and Bink. | Season 2003/2004 Wrap Up ! | |
Written By Dean Neal Holden versus Ford is the universal chant in Australian Motorsport and the fact that this great rivalry permeates Speedway may surprise some and that it certainly exists in Sydney to boot! The Ford versus Holden 6-cylinder Street Stock Stampede raced with regularity throughout the season at Parramatta City Raceway. Despite not being one of the very fastest racing categories to take to the 460-metre PCR Clayway, the racing rivalry displayed in this version of Ford versus Holden frivolity certainly gets the crowds in the stands vocal and involved! In recent seasons the Blue-Oval Ford brigade have dominated in both race wins and claiming track Championships at PCR. This is in difference to the crowd support, which is clearly at this point in time in favour of the Holdens week in and week out…maybe it’s a sympathy vote but one would doubt it! With the continued stronghold that Ford has had in Sydney Street Stock ranks in recent times, it is clear Ford support amongst the viewing public is on the rise regardless. This season some alterations were made to the car specifications in the hope that the Lion would roar proudly once again for the Holden fans and whilst it was the Ford constructed cars the victors once again this season, there is no question that the Holden troupe are closing in and narrowing the gap on their counterparts. The track Championship this season came down to what some may consider almost a two car team - the potent combo of Shane Duggan and Tim Bink. The battle for Street Stock Supremacy at Parramatta City Raceway was unclear until the final round of the championship was contested with the two candidates for Championship glory heavily in the thick of it right until the chequered flag was unfurled! Bink won that final round battle but Duggan ultimate won the points series war in his well-prepared Portland Automotive Sponsors Falcon entry. Duggan held on for a strong finish in the series final despite some very nasty mechanical gremlins besieging his normally reliable race package. “It was great to win the Championship this year and Tim provided stiff opposition…in fact the racing all season was tight and tough throughout the field and I am happy to say Deano that we can rub the Holden fans’ noses into the ground with the knowledge that Ford have prevailed once again,” winked and grinned the affable Duggan. Bryan Foyle secured third in the Championship to round out another trifecta for the Ford flotilla, however with Richard Elliott and Brian Reed in fourth and fifth respectively in Holden machines, the future looks promising that the ‘General’ can stand atop the tree not too long into the future! The
racing in 2003-2004 was as entertaining as ever from the Sydney Street
Stockers…with some particularly intense battles highlighted in the
second half of the season when the PCR clayway contained more moisture
within the racing surface which suited these narrow-tyred cars down to
the ground!
Thank You Sydney Street Stockers Inc!
