Mitchell
Leaves Opposition in his Wake at Nowra:
Picton
resident Glenn Mitchell last Saturday night (November 19) ventured down to the
South Coast venue of Nowra Speedway aboard his # 41 Picton Hire supported EF
Falcon Street Stock and took home the victory spoils.
Since
the start of the season Mitchell has endured a number of teething engine
gremlins that have prevented him from registering stronger results.
However,
in recent meetings Mitchell has resolved those dramas, which were traced back to
a fuel issue, and has posted some very respectable results, which was
highlighted by a clean sweep of proceedings down at Nowra Speedway last weekend.
The
ever aggressive Mitchell took out all three qualifying heat races by using the
high line to great effect around Nowra, a venue he hadn’t competed at in
nearly two years.
In
the 12 lap feature race Mitchell’s rivals were a wake up to his high line
antics and at the start they all moved up to the high line in order to prevent
his raid.
“I
had been using the high line all night and my car worked well up there,” said
Mitchell. “In the feature race I tried to use that line but they were all up
there and I was hung out to dry.”
After
dropping back to the tail of the field, Mitchell fought his way back through the
field and worked his way into the lead with three laps left. At the fall of the
chequered flag Mitchell scored a comfortable win ahead of current Sydney
championship point’s leader Richard Elliott and local Paul Stargatt filling
second and third respectively.
“It
was good to get that winning feeling back again, and I am very pleased with the
performance of my car,” expressed a pleased Mitchell. “I just hope we can
improve our results from here and get a few more wins in the bag.”
Mitchell
will be hoping that his winning ways continue when this Saturday night (November
26) he will contest the latest round of Sydney Street Stock championship at
Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway.
Currently
Mitchell is placed 5th (509 points) in the Sydney championship point
score
