Street Stock Report

By James Murray

On a cool day that had been threatening rain all day but never eventuated, it allowed the track ground staff to prepare what looked to be a great racing surface. 20 very well prepared cars had turned up for the Sydney Street Stock (Holden versus Ford) clash. A series of incidents combined to cause the abandonment of the Sydney Street Stocks (Holden versus Ford) “A” main.

In fact the only event for this category on the night was the first series of heats. An incident with a spectator requiring the ambulance and a passing shower which required the track to be repacked, forced officials to cancel the second group of heats and run only the mains for all divisions. Unfortunately while the Street Stocks were grided up and looking forward to their clash the A main for Sprintcars was taking place. With a few laps to go Steven Grasmayer had the misfortune of hitting the fence out of turn 4 on the main straight, damaging the catch fence. The officials had no option but to cancel the rest of the races.
