Stocks Present a New Challenge for Cook:
Having spent most of his life behind the wheel on Australia’s road racing scene, Brendon Cook is set to begin a new chapter in his life this Saturday night (December 30) at Parramatta City Raceway when he joins the tough Street Stock ranks.
As the manager of Revolution Racegear in Auburn, Cook has taken hold of a VN Holden Commodore from Richard Elliot and is greatly anticipating the new challenge that lies ahead of him.
“Over my years in Motor Racing I have competed in categories such as Go Karts, HQ Holdens, Formula Ford and Production Cars, but Speedway is something that I have never experienced,” Cook commented, whose only claim to fame is out qualifying Formula One ace David Coulthard in 1989 during a Formula Ford event at Oulton Park Raceway in England.
“I decided to start Street Stock racing due to the fact that it’s cost effective and that the cars are relatively easy to maintain.”
The plan at this early stage for Cook is to learn as much as possible and start to become more competitive as the season draws on.
“I know very well that driving Speedway is going to take a totally different discipline in comparison to road racing,” admitted Cook.
“Getting used to the car running sideways will be the biggest thing to learn and is something that will take some getting used to - as in road racing sideways was never the ideal position to be in out on the track.”
In a special offer to all drivers within the Sydney Street Stock Club, Cook is offering a 10% discount on all gear (not already marked down) at the Revolution Racegear store in Auburn.
