Sydney Street Stocks Return to PCR Minus Many of Their Stars:

A number of the leading contenders will be away contesting the NSW State Title this Saturday night (February 3), and there will be a smaller field of drivers than usual contesting the latest Sydney Street Stock meeting at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR), and this present a good chance that there will be a new driver joining the winners circle.

From the nominated field of drivers only Bryan Foyle (Ford Falcon) and Greg ‘Boom Boom’ Bayliss (Holden Commodore) have managed to capture feature race victories in season 2006/07 at PCR, and they are no doubt wanting to post another victory, especially whilst a number of the leading contenders are going to be absent.

Missing from the action at PCR will be reigning Sydney Street Stock club champion Tim Bink (Ford Falcon), current club championship leader Shane Carlson (Ford Falcon), Australia # 2 Glenn Mitchell (Ford Falcon), Ray Healey (Ford Falcon), Nigel O’Neill (Ford Falcon), Richard Elliot (Holden Commodore), and rookie Brett Mitchell (Ford Falcon).

Aside from Foyle and Bayliss, those aiming to get into victory lane include early Sydney club championship leader John Smith (Holden Commodore), Robbie Swain (Holden Commodore), Brian Reed (Holden Commodore), Andy Espener (Holden Commodore), and Bruce Clark (Ford Falcon).

This season Brian Reed has had his focus switching between his own # 4 VS Commodore Street Stock and his 23-year-old son, Matthew’s # 46 Litre Sprintcar, and for this Saturday night his attention will be entirely on his Street Stock racing, and he is hoping to visit the winners circle for the first time this season.

“It has been a busy season maintaining two cars [the Street Stock and Litre Sprintcar] and to be honest my son’s racing has been put ahead of my own, as he has been doing really well in his first season,” said the ex front running Fender Bender racer who was affectionately dabbed the ‘World Fender Bender Champion’ by former PCR track commentator Stuart Telfer.

“I’m looking forward to this Saturday night as I hope to be in feature race contention, especially with a number of the front runners away for the NSW Title, and although I’d like to win with them all in the field, I’ll take a win any way I can get it.”

Those drivers aiming to work their way into the top five will no doubt be drivers such as Neil White (Holden Commodore), Andrew Tyma (Holden Commodore), and newcomers Troy Dean (Holden Commodore) and youngster Tim Baker (Holden Commodore). Dean in particular has been impressive of late and was on track for a podium finish in the most recent feature race only to spin out and have his podium chance taken away from him, eventually finishing fifth.

Other nominated drivers include: Glen Hoogewaerks (Holden Commodore), Greg Cook (Ford Falcon), Michael Butt (Holden Commodore), Todd Griffin (Holden Commodore), Todd Ford (Holden Commodore), Phill Clark (Holden Commodore), Ken Moxam (Ford Falcon), Graham Arnold (Ford Falcon), Nathan Pantovich (Holden Commodore), Darren Nicholls (Holden Commodore) and Greg Towel (Ford Falcon).

It must also be noted that this Saturday ngiht’s meeting is a non club championship point scoring round.
