Sydney Street Stock Club Champion Returns to the Fold:
The second round of the Sydney Street Stock club championship is to be fought out this Saturday night (October 7) at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR), marking the unscheduled return of defending Sydney Street Stock club champion, Tim Bink (Ford Falcon).
Bink is out of contention for winning the club championship, despite having won the event twice, as he failed to compete in the opening round a fortnight ago. Bink’s aim, however, is to have a little fun and to win as many races as possible on the restructured PCR track.
“After watching the opening round it prompted my eagerness to get back behind the wheel again, as I only planned to return at around the Christmas / New Year period,” Bink conceded.
“I will debut my new engine, so I’ll be using the opening meeting to run it in and also get a grasp of the new PCR track.
“The aim for the season is to focus on taking out the NSW and Australian titles, especially with the club championship now out of my reach.”
After taking out an upset victory in the opening round, Greg Bayliss (Holden Commodore) will be looking to take back-to-back feature race victories. However, he will not have it easy with the likes of leading Ford Falcon rivals Bryan Foyle, Shane Carlson, Glenn Mitchell, Nigel O’Neill, along with fellow Holden Commodore runners and current club championship point leader John Smith, Robbie Swain, Richard Elliott and Brian Reed, who are all looking to taste victory.
One driver hot on Bayliss’ heels is Foyle, who led the majority of the feature race two weeks ago before a mistake exiting turn four allowed Bayliss to move into the lead, forcing Foyle to finish second ahead of Swain in third.
Andrew Espener (Holden Commodore), Ray Fowler (Ford Falcon), Todd Ford (Holden Commodore) Bruce Clark (Ford Falcon), Glen Hoogewaerks (Holden Commodore), Neil White (Holden Commodore), Peter Handley (Holden Commodore), Michael Butt (Holden Commodore) and the season debut of Graham Arnold (Ford Falcon) are more starters hopeful of recording strong results.
Newcomers, headed by Brett Mitchell (Ford Falcon), Troy Dean (Holden Commodore) and Tim Baker (Holden Commodore) will also be aiming to continue their fast learning curve and become more competitive in this round.
