MITCHELL
BREAKS THROUGH FOR VICTORY IN FINALE:
Glenn Mitchell has pulled through for his first official round victory last Saturday night (April 21) during the Sydney Street Stock Club Championship finale held at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR).
Having already scored two feature race wins this season at PCR but having lost both on technicalities, Mitchell (Ford Falcon) - the current Australian RSA (Restricted Sedan Association) Street Stock # 2 - got the monkey off his back and officially recorded his first round win convincingly.

Pole-sitter and early pace-setter Bruce Clark (Ford Falcon) lead the opening laps but it was Mitchell who was on a charge, working hard from sixth through the field to take the lead from brother Brett early on lap five. Despite numerous stoppages, Mitchell paced the field in the final 15-lap feature race of the year and went on to win for Ford, narrowly defeating fellow Blue Oval steerer Nigel O’Neill who had started from position 10.
“To finally get that win after a few hassles this season with my previous attempts is such a relief,” said Glenn Mitchell.
“The car set-up was right on the mark and drove really well. I’m so happy to get this win and it gives me such a confidence boost going into the Australian title in a few weeks time.”
Third car across the line was Shane Duggan (Ford Falcon) – subbing for Ray Healey - however regardless of his stellar drive from 22nd into third after two years away from the PCR track; Duggan was later relegated down the field after being given a penalty for an alleged jump start (on a restart). With third subsequently going to South Coast based steerer Dave Ford (Ford Falcon) who made his debut on Saturday night, Ford still rounded out the top five positions with the surprise packages of Clark and Brett Mitchell in fourth and fifth respectively, with Duggan finishing sixth.

Although Ford featured heavily at the pointy end of the field, the first Holden Commodore across the line was Alan Cox in seventh, who also claimed one of the earlier heat races along with fellow Holden Commodore drivers Brian Reed and Robbie Swain.
