Local Drivers Contest Titles
Release by Sapphire Speedway Inc.
Three local drivers from Surfair Speedway traveled away to compete in the ACT/NSW tittles. Jason Stewart & Frank Strauhn travelled to Sapphire Speedway at Tangawangalo to compete in the RAMS ACT/NSW tittles over two exciting days at easter.

Jason competed in the series production class, in a heat on Saturday he had engine problems that caused him to spin out and another car smashed into him. After alot of hard work the car fixed ready for the second day of racing. Regretably Jason experienced mechanical problems again on the sunday to put him out of the finals. Jason would like to thank his sponsors Southern Performance, Eurobodalla Fencing and Sapphire Office Supplies. Also a big Thankyou to Grant O'Mealy for the work he has done on the car to get it to the tittles.

Frank competed in the 1600's class. After winning most of his heats on Saturday he was back in fine form for the three heats of racing on Sunday then he proceeded to the final where he became RAMS ACT/NSW 1 for 1600 class.

Nathan Johnston travelled to National Capital Speedway in Canberra to compete in the ACT/NSW Board tittlesin Super Production class. It was a very feircly contested class with 10 strong competitors. After four heats he qualified in third position, apart from a few minor incidents it was a good race. Nathan eventually finished the final in third position but the second place driver was disqualified for cutting the corner and pushing Nathan towards the tyre wall, this promoted him to beome ACT/NSW 2 in the Board. Nathan would like to thank his sponsors Bay Brick & Pavers, King Bros Transport, Shell Service Station Moruya, Mordek, B&T Auto Electrics, Moruya Signs, Motul Oil, his pit crew and his family. A big thank you goes out to Mick King for towing the car to Canberra.
